Hattie Carnegie Egyptian snake necklace is a treasure that celebrates the Egyptian Revival period of the 1970s sparked by the traveling museum show of the artifacts from King Tutankhamen's tomb. This highly prized beauty features elongated plastic tubular beads with snake skin texture in authentic colors of turquoise and lapis lazuli color blue with gold tone metal spacers. The head of this serpent or cobra is enameled in a strikingly graphic enamel design in deep blue, turquoise and orange/red enamel in gold tone metal. The necklace is usually closed by linking the curved end over the cobra's head, but the previous owner found that the necklace often came apart and took it to a jeweler to have the piece professionally soldered and added a gold tone, corrugated ball, box closure for security. If truly examined closely, there is a slight bit of solder that might be seen as a shadow where the tail turns under the head for approximately 1/8". This might be able to be cleaned, but we did not attempt it. For this reason, we have discounted the necklace considerably although we do feel that the change represents a very practical improvement. Otherwise, the necklace is in Very Good/Excellent Condition. The wearable length, when closed, is approximately 18-1/4". We think you will be thrilled to add this exciting and highly collectible vintage Hattie Carnegie Egyptian Cobra Necklace to your collection and your wardrobe!(#45514-HattieCarnegieEgyptianSnakeNecklaceVintage)
