Edwardian / Art Deco crystal necklace is open backed and collet set. Most often, these necklaces without the drops are found and snapped up as soon as they are offered as so many collectors adore these collet set crystal necklaces. This one is more rare and unusual because it has five drops at the center making it more Edwardian perhaps than Art Deco, but certainly of the time period dating 1920s to 30s. Many of these types of necklaces are rock crystal and sterling silver, but we are selling this one as crystal and silver tone metal as we have not tested it for fear of damaging it with the acid. A similar necklace in topaz color without the drops is pictured on Page 118 of Ettinger's, Popular jewelry 1840 to 1940. This necklace is unmarked and has the original, older spring ring clasp. The crystals measure 8MM and the necklace is approximately 15-1/2" long.
