Another rare and hard to find is this Antonio Borsato "Grandfathers Rest" #955 Porcelain Figurine.
Purchased in 1969 from Italy.
Exquisite detail on this very large Porcelain figurine with grandfather sitting on bow of his boat and his grand daughter with a book in her lap.
Note the pipe in his right hand and the sticks sticking out of his back pocket.
Immense amount of labor and time to affix all the various mold pieces, then fire, then paint and fire again, and finally glaze and fire for the last time.
Hours and hours which doesn't include the original sculpting time by Borsato.
Measures 13 inches long, 12" inches in height and 10 inches wide. In excellent condition with no chipping, cracking or repair. No box.
Antonio Borsato was one of the more talented artist in Italy up to 1982 when he died at 71 in a car accident. Born in 1911.
