Thistle pin is a vintage estate piece that is carved from what is probably stag horn. Legend says that a Viking warrior inadvertently stepped on a thistle and cried out in pain alerting the Scottish to an invasion. The grateful Scottish king adopted the thistle the as the national symbol of Scotland and it has remained so ever since. This carved thistle pin measures approximately 1-5/8 x 1-3/8” and has a gold tone safety closure.
