Large Carrington Co. mechanical valentine has two children darling children that look like the Campbell's soup kids, the little boy presenting a huge heart that says, "To my dear Valentine" and the little girl peering through one-handled spectacles with her arm crooked at her hip that moves the arm and changes the postition of the eyes forward and away. The colors are vibrant and the Valentine measures approximately 8 x 6-3/8". The verse says, "Just gaze at this and you will see, How much I think of thee,/The biggest heart I could find,/ I've brought it to my Valentine." In Very Good/Excellent Condition, there is a slight smudge on the last line of the front of the verse and two long scratches that can only be seen on close examination when it is tilted in the light. The Valentine is unsigned and has an easel on the back so that it can stand. The front has a circular stamp on the bottom right of the illustration that says "Louis Katz and something illegible and 1924 around a large C (presumably for Carrington Co.). Opposite that, it says, "Made in Saxony". On the back is the Carrington Co. mark with a tree around the letter, "G" (shown). Really terrific image, large size and great condition make this one to have in your collection!
