Navajo Sterling Silver Turquoise NATIVE Thunderbird Pin Broo

Vintage Native American Navaho Thunderbird Pin Brooch features a vibrant turquoise cabochon in sterling silver. The Thunderbird represents power, protection and strength. It is interesting to note how similarly represented this iconic bird is to the ancient Egyptian renderings of the phoenix and the winged sun images.
The beautiful stamping gives the pin a rich texture. There are symbols of (bow and) arrows facing toward the sun on the top of each wing and bear paws (representing a desire for leadership) giving a feathered texture to the wings as well as special meaning.

The pin measures approximately 2-1/4 x 1-1/4" and has a safety closure. It is sterling silver (acid tested) and weighs 13.6 grams. The turquoise cabochon is approximately 1/2 x 1/4".

It is in Excellent Condition although there is a slight bend to the pin stem.

We think this pin could be at least fifty and possibly seventy years old. Much of what we see today in terms of stamping is much more primitive.
In those times, most Native American artisans did not sign their work.

Your very special, vintage Native American Turquoise and Sterling Silver Thunderbird Pin Brooch will arrive in our signature gift box with silver stretch tie, ready to love or give.

A step above most that we see.
