Victorian Engagement Ring White Spinel Solitaire 14K RGP
Victorian Engagement Ring is a white spinel solitaire in 14K rolled gold plate. The white spinel is set in a 6 claw setting in the manner of Tiffany's 1886 design.
White spinel was often used in Victorian rings because diamonds were not even discovered until 1867. Rolled gold plate involved placing a sheet of gold alloy over a sheet of base metal. The result was longer lasting and more gold than plating processes.
The ring is a Size 7-1/4. The spinel is approximately 5mm, which converts to about .75 of a carat. Spinels are bright and sparkly. This particular one has lots of light and life.
In Very Good / Excellent Condition, there is some wear to the plating at the back of the shank.
Offered as a symbol of promises made and intended to be kept for a lifetime, this romantic ring is the symbol of a love nearly a century and a half ago. It makes a wonderful token for a new relationship in the hope that it will last so long and sparkle so brightly!
Your beautiful Victorian Engagement Ring will arrive in our signature gift box with silver stretch tie, ready to love or give.
