Victorian Engagement Ring is a white spinel solitaire in 14K rolled gold plate. The white spinel is set in a 6 claw setting in the manner of Tiffany's 1886 design.

White spinel was often used in Victorian rings because diamonds were not even discovered until 1867. Rolled gold plate involved placing a sheet of gold alloy over a sheet of base metal. The result was longer lasting and more gold than plating processes.

The ring is a Size 7-1/4. The spinel is approximately 5mm, which converts to about .75 of a carat. Spinels are bright and sparkly. This particular one has lots of light and life.

In Very Good / Excellent Condition, there is some wear to the plating at the back of the shank.
