Vintage Plastic Rhinestone Bangle Bracelet, Bakelite, Lucite

Vintage transparent plastic bangle bracelet with rhinestones and carving is clear like lucite but has a tinge of color around the edges reminiscent of very weak tea. We were fortunate to purchase several of these bracelets as old store stock. The material of this beautiful vintage plastic bracelet reacts with Simichrome like bakelite but does not smell like bakelite so we are unsure of the material. It is possible, that like black colors in bakelite, some colors do not release strong formaldehyde odors when rubbed. The aged color change is definitely something that happens to create applejuice bakelite over time which was originally clear as was butterscotch originally white. Many bakelite colors are much different over time than when they were first made. So, it is very possible that this bracelet could be bakelite in the early stages of color change to applejuice. Whatever the exact early plastic material, this gorgeous bracelet is a beauty with its crosshatch carving and embedded sparkling topaz colored rhinestones. It measures approximately 1" wide with an inner dimension of 2-1/2". In Excellent Condition, this vintage bakelite bangle is guaranteed to be authentic vintage bakelite.
