Ladies Art Deco 14K Gold and Sterling Compact/Locket

This is a very nice Art Deco compact (or locket!) measuring 1-3/4 x 2-1/4". It has a shadow stripe design in Sterling and gold on the front and back and a monogram on the front "HVB". The inside is empty and written on the edge is 14K Gold Inlaid Sterling and a number 1150. There is a ring at the top for hanging. Ladies Dogwood Design Compact/Box

This item is from an estate and I'm not sure what it's use was for originally. It is made of metal, possibly pewter, with a brushed finish and engraved dogwood blossoms on both sides.
