Subject: Alfred Stieglitz

Presented here are two books containing information about Alfred Stieglitz, his photography collections and his impact on American life and art history.   Book  #1:     "The Collection of Alfred Stieglitz:  Fifty pioneers of modern photography",  by Weston Naef.  Published by Viking Press (A Studio Book),  under the auspices of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in 1978.     (ISBN  0-670-67051-0)    The original book/dust cover is intact and both the book and the cover are in very good condition.    Excerpt from the book jacket:   "Alfred Stieglitz collected photographs with an ardor shared by few of his contemporaries, frequently boldly disregarding the work of professionals with established reputations while acquiring that of little known photographers.   His selections were highly personal....diverse....(and) stand today as tangible evidence of the strides made during an era when, largely because of Stieglitz's influence, photography emerged from its status as a conjurer's trick to recognition as an art form."
