Very rare "Gavroche" Figural Lamp by A de Ranieri. Made in Paris France (Fabicuen Francaise) in the late 19th Century. Material is Spelter and no damage we can ascertain. One of the glass windows in the street lantern is missing the glass and another is missing an edge of the glass. Both of these could be easliy replaced. The lamp weighs approximately seven pounds. "Gavroche", the street wise boy from Les Miserables is lighting a cigarette off the street lamp. Les Miserables, the famous book and laster musical is by author Victor-Marie Hugo. Note the "Rue Barree" street name. This figure is signed on the base by de Ranieri, and the factory stamp is next to the impression on the side of the base. The factory stamp reads "Paris, Made in France" and the words "Fabicuen Francaise" although this is very hard to read. Bronze labe on front of base reads "Gavroche." Measurements are 16 inches high, 9 1/2 inches long and 6 inches wide. Please see our other Decorative Arts figures by clicking on the link below: |
