Presented here are a wonderful pair of vintage decorative siroco bookends. Siroco is called the "poor man's wood". It made it's appearance shortly after the start of the Great Depression in 1929 and continued into the thirties. The most popular, were motifs such as this set, dogs (usually scotties), birds, horses, flowers, and boats. The companies specialized in bookends, tie racks, ash trays, cigarette boxes, and dresser trays for men's keys and change. These pieces were generally brown and on occasion white. Presented here is a set that has been gently distressed white, to fit in beautifully with your Country French, Shabby Chic, or Romantic Floral room. These bookends measure 5" wide x 6" tall.
