Bronze Marble Eagle Double Inkwell

This is one of the most distinctive Marble and Bronze Inkwells I have had the pleasure to ever handle.  Nice large marble base with pedestal for the Eagle.  Two Bronze circular inkwells (without insert glass) which are very ornate.  And our Eagle peering over at all that is going on about the excecutive desk.  I sincerely believe this was probably owned by the President of a Bank or the President of a large corporation -- possibly U.S. Steel -- who knows?  I just know the average bookeeper did not own this inkwell.   

The marble base is 15 inches wide, 9 inches deep and an inch thick.  The height is 6 inches from bottom of marble to top of eagle. The triple tier marble pedestal is 4 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches and graduating to 2 1/2 inches at the top.  The Eagle is 5 inches wide, 3 inches high and 6 inches from tail to beak.  The ink wells are 3 1/2 inches in diameter with a great deal of detail on the top and sides.  No glass inserts (they are readily available). Total weight is 14 pounds.

This is just about as good as it gets with regard to inkwells.  No cracks, knicks or blemishes in the marble.  The bronze has a very dark and old patina.  I have seen inkwells of this type selling for thousands of dollars ont  the web -- I bought this right and you can have it for $695.
