Unique Vintage Pearlized Plastic Cufflinks

I think these could be worn by either a man or a woman.  They are made of plastic that looks like pearl.  I am not sure if the center part is real wood or not; there is a definite line that can be felt where the parts meet in the center.  They are 1" x 3/4" at  the center of the oval.  The backs are goldtone, they are in very good vintage condition; there is no maker's mark.
