Landscape Oil Painting by S Marin who we believe to be Sutter Marin (1926-1985) who lived, painted and taught in the San Francisco area for many years. (See below for link to biography on Sutter Marin).
The landscape is most likely of a grove in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco with the eucalyptus trees in the background on the hill.
Using a magnifying glass the man on the bench resembles Mark Twain. The figure is in great detail with hair eyes and mouth very evident.
The frame is aged oak with just the right number of knicks and holes while the matte is cloth with some nice aging to it.
This is a most detailed oil with the flowers, the trees, the hedge, the man, stream and bench.
