Croydon 22 Karat Gold Decorated China Dinnerware with Classic French Man & Woman Scene. A total of 84 pieces with 8 pieces per place setting minimum which could be expanded to 10 easily. This set was purported to be a wedding gift to Jack Warner Jr. of Warner Studios in the 1950's. Various pieces have blank manufacturers marks such as Thung and Victoria. Croydon would have purchased these pieces from these manufacturers and then decorated them in 22 karat gold. This dinnerware could make a minimum of 8 place setting with 8 pieces per place setting and three serving pieces and a sugar base, without a lid. You could also get up to a 10 place setting if you didn't use all the coffee cups and dessert plates, as you can see from the count below: 12 ea. Dinner Plates (10") 8 ea. Cups 8 ea Saucers 12 ea. Bread & Butter Plates (6 1/2") 11 ea. Sauce Dishes (5") 11 ea. Soup, Consumee, Bouillion Handled Cups (6") 10 ea. Saucers for Soup (6 1/2") 8 ea. Dessert Plates (7 1/2") 1 ea. Oval Platter (11" x 8") 1 ea. Oval Vegetable Bow (10" x 7 1/2") 1 ea Round Serving Bowl w/Handles (10 1/2" x 7 1/2") 1 ea. Sugar Base w/o lid. Total 84 pieces. Overall these pieces are in very good condition with only minor gold wear on the interior ridges of the various plates. We have seen similar separate pieces for sale on other web sites and or eBay so we expect this set could be expanded to a 12 place setting rather easily. |
