Vintage Valentine by Whitney Made features a central medallion of a young boy and girl holding hands on a hammock inside a diamond of paper lace with two applied cutouts, one of a baby angel within a red blossom and the other of a couple in a canoe. The background is a transitional Art Deco design with French blue edges and metallic gold hearts and bubbles overlaid with colorful gold and organge, blue and purple and white with yellow and purple pansies. The inside verse amid a scene of a pier with a little boy helping a little girl says, "To My Valentine/If I had a little boat,/I will some day I guess,/Would you sail away with me?/Oh, Valentine! say yes." In Very Good Condition/Excellent Condition, there is a curl on the bottom right corner of the front and a bend of that point on the inside that has been straightened over the years. There are also very slight bends of the very tips of a few of the points along the right edge and a bend of the point on the left side of the paper lace on the cover. There is a tiny round stain, smaller than a pea, on the back cover. Other than these few unremarkable defects, this Vintage Whitney Made Valentine is in Excellent Condition. The reverse is signed in pencil: "To Miss Kidd From Robert Shouse". The reverse is marked, "Whitney Made Worcester Mass Made in USA". A lovely Vintage Whitney Made Valentine from the 1920s!
