Hermatite is a blue/black, silvery/grey mineral from which ancient Egyptians made scarabs. It is found in England, Mexico, Austrailia, and Lake Superior in North America. Today, when found, it is usually seen as a cabochon in better to fine jewelry. While these vintage pieces are to be found out on the market, it is difficult to a find a piece in good condition. Quite often, when found, it has been poorly cared for, and the beautiful silvery finished has been damaged.
This brooch is so exceptional, and while it was also made in blue and green, this set is considered a rare stone and color combination for Kramer. It measures 2-1/4"in diameter, has a glass faux tiger eye center stone, surrounded on one side by (5) beautiful amber teardrop crystals, and an outter rim of topaz navettes alternating with beautiful hermatite cabochons, and overlayed with goldtone braid.
This vintage brooch is in fabulous condition, and handset in a goldtone setting.
Whether for boardroom, evening at the theatre or party, this brooch will be a stunning addition to your collection!
