Item Description:
This Bobo mask represents spirits of nature which influence human life. It is used on festive occasions and market days. The various geometric ornamentation on the plank have symbolic connotations: triangles represent hoof prints, black squares represent old, darkened goat skins sat upon by elders, and the white squares represent the light-colored goat skins sat upon by young, inexperienced initiates. Made in Burkina Faso
